City Tour with Diccon Bewes

We regret to inform you that Diccon Bewes will be unable to lead the City Tour as planned due to health reasons. We have organised a professional replacement guide with the help of Bern Welcome and a local from Bern's queer community to talk about life in Bern. We thank you for your understanding and wish Diccon Bewes a quick and full recovery.

Get the scoop from the Swiss expert

Do you want to tour Bern’s prettiest sights, but also take a peek behind the facades of Swiss life? Get a feel of this year’s EuroGames host city on this exclusive City Tour with Diccon Bewes in a group of maximum 20 people. This tour will be in English only.

The Englishman knows what it’s like to be a guest in Switzerland. 18 years ago, Diccon moved to Bern to be together with his partner. As well as grappling with German grammar, re-learning to cross the road properly, and overcoming his innate desire to form an orderly queue, he has spent the last few years exploring the bits of Switzerland he’d never heard of before. And eating lots of chocolate. The result was «Swiss Watching», the book that became a bestseller with Diccon’s thoughts and observations on Swiss life.

Over time Bern and Switzerland have become home for Diccon. From the Zytglogge to the Bear Park all the way up to the Rosengarten, Diccon will be showing you what Bern has to offer and give you some insights about Swiss culture along the way.

For starters, discover why Diccon sees Swiss people as coconuts and the British as pineapples in the video below. Also check out his TED Talk here. Learn more about Bern and the Swiss on our City Tour with Diccon Bewes!
